The Department of Intellectual Affairs extends condolences to the families of the victims of the earthquake in Morocco and flooding in Libya

The Department of Intellectual and Cultural Affairs at the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine extended its condolences to the families of the earthquake victims in Morocco and the devastating flooding in Libya via the Cairo News Channel.

This came through the participation of the representative of the African Studies Center of the Department, Dr. Ghaith Salim,in a program for discussion on Cairo TV.

Dr. Salim extended condolences to the families of the victims in some of the cities of Morocco that were hit by the earthquake, and the Libyan city of Derna, which was significantly affected as a result of the recent storm, and at the same time called for the need for international action to provide humanitarian and material assistance related to humanitarian heritage.

He pointed to the importance of the Moroccan cities that were hit by the earthquake, specifically the tourist city (Marrakech), which includes the historic Koutoubiya mosque and the Catholic Church, pointing to the disappearance of four cities with prominent architectural landmarks, as well as the presence of a large number of victims.

The discussion was held at exactly five o'clock Cairo time, in the presence of the representative of the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism, Dr. Magdy Shaker, and the secretary of the Arab Organization of Museums in Rabat, Dr. Sharqi Dahmali.
