The Heritage Centre of Karbala opens its Second Annual Exhibition with more than 200 Artwork..

The Heritage Centre of Karbala has opened on Friday afternoon the 15th of Dhu Al-Hijjah, 1435 AH, corresponding to the 10th of October, 2014 in the area between the Two Holy Shrines, its second annual exhibition. The opening ceremony was attended by the Secretary-General of the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine; Sayed Ahmed Al-Safi and a number of religious and intellectual figures from inside and outside the province of Karbala.

The exhibition is held for the second year in row, after that the centre has achieved its aspirations in the first edition. This year, it expanded the number of the participations of paintings, photographs and documents, according to the centre's director; Dr. Ehsan Al-Ghurayfi who, has explained to Al-Kafeel Network the following: "The Exhibition of the Heritage Centre of Karbala is considered one of the annual activities and events conducted by the centre, and it is a contest for documenting by photographs, books, manuscripts and audio and video recording pertaining the holy city of Karbala, and which aims to highlight the cultural heritage of the holy city of Karbala, its dissemination and the consolidation of the religious and civil identity of the holy city of Karbala as well as the preservation of its heritage from being lost."

He added: "The exhibition included several pavilions, including the pavilion of paintings of Sheikh Mohammed Saleh Al-Baydani, in which he represented a number of Karbala crafts and old landmarks and also what the holy city was subjected to during the period of the Wahhabi invasion, by 15 paintings. The pavilion of photographs has many sections, including the photos about the popular upraising of Shaaban and the destruction that the city suffered from by the hands of the former Baath henchmen, a section for Karbala ancient personalities from the Scientists, Rawadeed, Hussayni preachers, and a section for the most prominent landmarks and holy shrines of the city during different time periods. The exhibition has also included a pavilion for displaying very old documents."

Then Dr. Al-Ghurayfi added: "The exhibition included also a pavilion dedicated to the activities of the centre during the year, from exhibitions, evenings and seminars as well as the most prominent publications such as the books, pamphlets and magazines, in addition to the participation of the holy shrines of Imam Al-Hussayn and Al-Abbas (peace be upon them) with the Division of religious and cultural heritage in a pavilion that included many of the Division's productions."

It is worth to note that the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine has established this centre in order to preserve the heritage of the holy city of Karbala, as it is an important international city, as well as for creating an information reference for the history and present of the holy city of Karbala, using contemporary or traditional instruments, so the researchers and students of thoughts, science and knowledge could take the full benefit from everything related to this holy city, in addition to note and document all the exploits and arts of Karbala personalities, in a step of respect of the owners in order to not underestimate their rights, and the creation of communication between present and past generations, to be followed as they can be an example of the creativity and exploits, and working to highlight the fact that Karbala is one of the important historic cities.
