At the Al-Kafeel Hospital.. Treating a young woman suffering from aortic valve insufficiency and replacing it with a mechanical one

An Iraqi team at Al-Kafeel Super Speciality Hospital successfully performed a aortic valve replacement operation on a young woman suffering from aortic valve insufficiency, which caused her health problems.

A specialist in Cardiovascular Surgery at the hospital, Dr. Ali Najm, " the patient who had a successful valve replacement operation is 16 years old, and she was suffering from an incompetent aortic valve, which caused her health problems."

"After the necessary medical examinations, it was decided to perform surgical intervention to replace the damaged valve with another mechanical valve, by means of a small opening and partial cutting of the sternum, to reduce pain after the operation and avoid other health problems,"he added.

"The patient is in good health and will leave the hospital after completing the treatment phase," Najm added, noting that "the High experience of the medical staff and the availability of advanced means and devices in the operating theaters greatly facilitated the conduct of various open heart operations and arterial replacement in the hospital."
