The head of the Scientific Complex of the Holy Quran at the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine; Dr. Mushtaq Al-Ali, confirmed that the Thaqalayn Competition for the Calligraphy of the Holy Quran is the first of its kind at the level of the Islamic world.
The competition is supervised by the Holy Quran Printing Center of the Complex.
Al-Ali said that"the Thaqalayn Competition brought together ten calligraphers from inside and outside Iraq to write the Holy Quran, as the three parts written by each participant were combined to represent a complete copy of the Holy Quran, stressing that the Thaqalayn Prize competition for the calligraphy of the Holy Quran is the first of its kind locally and in the Islamic world".
"The competition will be held today, Thursday, with the participation of ten calligraphers to write a full page of the Holy Quran and in front of the media and the judging and preparatory committee, but tomorrow, Friday, the results of the competition will be announced and the first winner will be chosen,"he added.
He added that"the complex will hold a scientific workshop on the sidelines of the competition with the participation of a group of Iraqi, Arab and foreign calligraphers, in order to demonstrate how to write the Holy Quran in a smooth and accurate font, as we see in printed copies of the holy Quran".
