A child regains hope in Al-Kafeel hospital after suffering from a congenital deformity of the spine

A Lebanese medical team at Al-Kafeel Super Speciality Hospital successfully performed a qualitative operation through which hope was restored to a nine-year-old child suffering from a congenital deformity of the vertebrae.

The specialist of spinal surgery, Dr. Firas Atallah, said that the nine-year-old child was suffering from spinal deviation as a result of a congenital deformity in the vertebrae, indicating that this deformation is in the form of the growth of half a vertebra in the spine, which is one of the rare cases, because it grows abnormally, which leads to spinal deviation and the deviation increases with increasing age until it reaches advanced stages.

He added that the child underwent a successful surgery through which the deformed vertebra was removed and the deviated vertebrae were returned to their normal position with the stabilization of the patient's health status, pointing out that it is a very complex operation that requires great expertise and high-level techniques.
