Khair Al-Joud company for industrial technology and modern agriculture succeeded in the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine, by experimenting with the cultivation of cherry tomatoes in a modern way that adopts the optimal exploitation of water.

The director of the agricultural research and experiments station of the company, engineer Aqeel Abdul Amir al-Turaihi, said that"the station planted yellow and red cherry tomatoes through the hydroponic system, which operates the return system for water exploitation, through the plastic bucket systems (Dutch bucket), and cultivation in plastic pipes measuring (12) inches".

"We started with this Agricultural Experiment last season and it was a simple thing by planting four spaces, and currently the matter has developed after planting eight spaces, and these experiments are still in the evaluation stages,"he added.

As for the details of Agriculture, Al-Turaihi said that "the modern system works by taking the plant from the bucket or plastic tube, consisting of several agricultural circles as you need to grow, and then the water returns through the filtration system to the tank and returns it back to the plant without using the soil.

"The experiment is carried out through the system of covered cultivation (greenhouses), green net and controlled environment, to provide a suitable atmosphere for the growth of plants, and in case of high temperatures, fans and refrigerators work to make it suitable and vice versa,"he added.

Regarding the types of tomatoes, he explained that" the cultivated varieties are cherry tomatoes with their yellow and red varieties, which are the best and with good productivity, "stressing that"the goal of planting rare varieties is to optimize the exploitation of existing water resources, using modern methods to benefit from them and supplying the local market."
