The ceremony of changing the flags of both shrines' domes of Imam Al-Hussayn and his brother Aba Al-Fadl Al-Abbas (peace be upon them) from red to black...

For the tenth year in row, after the prayers of Maghreb and Isha of Saturday the 30th of Dhu Al-Hijjah 1435 AH corresponding to the 25th of October 2014, the ceremony of changing the flags of both shrines' domes of Imam Aba Abdillah Al-Hussayn and his brother Aba Al-Fadl Al-Abbas (peace be upon them) from the red one to the black one was launched to mark the beginning of the sacred month of Muharram.

A large number of religious, cultural and political figures have participated in the rituals of this ceremony in addition to the large crowds of followers of Ahl Al-Bayt (peace be upon them) who filled both holy shrines and the courtyard between them.

The ceremony rituals were launched at the holy shrine of Imam Al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) by the recitation of verses of the Holy Quran by the reader Al-Haj. Mustafa As-Sarraf, and on a sad funerary tune the red flag has been lowered to be replaced by the black flag while the crowds were cheering "Labbayka Ya Hussayn".

Then, the cortège headed towards the shrine of Aba Al-Fadl Al-Abbas (peace be upon him) to conduct the rituals ceremony of replacing the flag, as since five years, the flag raised on the shrine's dome of Aba Al-Fadl Al-Abbas (peace be upon him) is handed over from one of the Iraqi provinces, this year the honour was given to the Diyala province, their flag was handed over to the Secretary-General of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine; Sayed. Ahmad Al-Safi. After the intervention of Sayed. Saleh Al-Haydari; the head of the Shiite Endowment, Sayed. Afdal Al-Shami; Deputy Secretary-General of Imam Al-Hussayn's (p) holy shrine and Sayed. Ahmed Al-Safi; Secretary-General of Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine, the ceremony was concluded by a Council of condolences led by the Radood Al-Haj. Basem Al-Karbalai.

All these rituals have been broadcasted live by many of local and satellite channels, in addition to the live broadcast of the websites of the holy shrines, as well as the attendance of audio-visual and written media.
