Head of the Green Belt Department: the Belt project achieves four important goals, including environmental feasibility

The head of the southern green belt Department of the Al-Abbas's (p) Shrine; Nasser Hussein Miteb, said that the Belt project achieves four important goals, including environmental feasibility.

"The project was based on four important factors of multiple feasibility, including the environmental factor and its importance in facing the challenges of climate change witnessed by the country, as well as achieving the requirements of Sustainable Development, acting as a source for the city from winds and dust storms, in addition to its contribution to tempering the atmosphere,"he said.

"The second factor is the economic aspect, as the project has achieved economic feasibility in the market through the production of dates of various varieties, in addition to olives and various vegetables, and the planting of hundreds of species of trees, some of which are rare varieties," he added.

He added that "the Southern Green Belt project contributed to reducing the phenomenon of unemployment, as it provided job opportunities for more than 500 workers in various specialties, and was keen to attract them from the poor classes to contribute to reducing this phenomenon, while the fourth aspect of the project included the factor of reviving the land by planting it with various crops according to advanced scientific methods".

The Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine continues its work in expanding green spaces within the project to serve citizens.
