Wide strides in the work taking place in the project of the basement of Imam Jawad (peace be upon him) ..

In the midst of the ongoing projects within the reconstruction campaign taking place in the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine in an attempt to prove the efficiency and capabilities of Iraqi engineering and architectural energies, and the statement of their ability to manage the projects planning and design, the works of the crypt of Imam Al-Jawad (Peace be upon him), which is located in the basement of the holy shrine of Aba Al-Fadl Al-Abbas (peace be upon him) from the northern side, are going continuously day and night in order to accelerate the project's implementation and to accomplish it within the architectural and technical plans within the time periods.

The head of Engineering Projects Department in the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy shrine, the overseeing body of the implementation of this vital and great project; Engineer Dea' Majeed Al-Sa'egh has explained to the Al-Kafeel Network: "In fact the project of the crypt of Imam Al-Jawad (peace be upon him) is an integrated project that will be including all the ground of the holy sanctuary, but the first phase -the current one that is between the gates of Imam Musa Al-Kadhem and Imam Ali Al-Hadi (peace be upon them)- is from the projects that the General-Secretariat of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine gave all the attention, provided all means and surmounted all obstacles, as a result the company that is designing and implementing the project harnessed all its effort for this phase, which will be the nucleus for the completion of all the basements of the holy shrine of Abu Al-Fadl Al-Abbas (peace be upon him) in the future. The whole project with all its aspects is a quantum leap in the world of Islamic architecture, as every part and phase of it has been studied extensively and accurately by the General-Secretariat of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine, the implementing company of the architectural and engineering works and the Shiite Endowment, as for the first time such edifice is built in the holy shrines of Iraq according to these specifications."

As for the most important stages that the project went through until this moment, Mr. As-Sa'egh stated: "The project is built on an area of almost a thousand square meters, and it was held on a ground that carries the ancient foundations and has water gaps, in addition the giants loads and large weights resulting from the roofing project and the cooling and electricity systems. And, with the blessing of the owner of the shrine Aba Al-Fadl Al-Abbas (peace be upon him) we succeeded in the first phase to preserve the old structures by installing crossover concrete pillars that are overlapping with each other by 10 cm to form a concrete fence with a width of 60 cm and a depth of 12m underground to fully protect the crypt with its outer periphery of the collapse of the old neighbouring foundations, allowing the isolation of a certain percentage of the flow of underground water."

Adding: "The crypt was divided to three parts, and the works included digging the basement, removing the soil and building a concrete wall adjacent to the old pillars wall, then it was covered by insulating materials such as asphalt to form an integrated basin that will prevent the leakage of underground water to the crypt. Also, we installed an underground filter, which is a pipes network to withdraw groundwater and push it to a special well that will evacuate it outside, with this process we controlled the groundwater level."

He continued: "Insha-Allah, the second phase that is between the gate of Imam Al-Jawad (peace be upon him) and the end of the holy sanctuary will be finalized before the tenth of Muharram, while the third part, we hope to complete its integrated concrete crypt before the coming Zyarat of Al-Arba'een, God willing."
