An Iraqi medical team at Al-Kafeel Super Speciality Hospital has successfully performed advanced surgery on a 13-year-old patient suffering from a rare genetic disease that caused her to have a tumor around the knee.
A specialist in orthopedics and traumatology at the hospital, Dr. Mohammed Saad al-Haris, said that "a thirteen-year-old patient was received by us suffering from a rare genetic disease, which caused a tumor around the knee compressing the veins, arteries and nerves surrounding the injury area," indicating that "after carefully assessing the case, we decided to form a medical team headed by us, including both Dr. Zaid al-Nasrawi and Dr. Mohammed Sami, for the specificity of this patient's case.
"We were able to completely remove the tumor without health complications, after which the patient leaves in good health," he added, pointing out that "these advanced operations have become easy to perform in the hospital."
