Religious Affairs Department: more than 6,500 marriage contracts were performed at the Al-Abbas's (p) Shrine in 2023

The Department of Religious Affairs at the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine announced that more than 6,500 marriage contracts were performed inside the holy shrine during 2023.

The head of the Department, Sheikh Salah al-Karbalai, said that"the number of marriage contracts conducted by the department inside the holy shrine during the past year amounted to (6540) contracts from inside and outside Iraq for only ten months, that is, excluding the months of Muharram and Safar".

He added that "marriage contracts are conducted by a specialized division under the supervision of the Department, according to a mechanism that takes place in the holy shrine of Aba al-Fadl (peace be upon him), and it is through entering the data of both spouses and in the presence of their relatives, followed by reading the marriage contract by the person responsible for conducting the contract in the Department".

"The spouses are given a copy of the contract and another copy is kept with the department, as the marriage contract concluded at the Holy Shrine is considered in the Iraqi courts, according to the Iraqi Personal Status Law,"Karbalai continued.

Conducting marriage contracts at the shrine of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him) has a great meaning for believers, because of what this holy place means in their souls, and it is more like a tradition that many families are following in order to get the blessings of the owner of the shrine, according to al-Karbalai.
