The general secretariat of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine has launched the activities of the (Shabih al-Mustafa) International vertical poetry competition.

The competition, organized by the Department of Intellectual and Cultural Affairs of the holy shrine, came under the slogan (the beauty of at-Taf does not end), and aims to awaken creative poets to write about this exemplary figure of Ali al-Akbar (peace be upon him), in the presence of a number of members of the board of Directors of the Al-Abbas's (p) shrine, heads of its departments, religious and academic figures and participating poets.

The festival activities began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, read by the reader of the Al-Abbas's (P) shrine Ammar al-Hilli, followed by the speech of the Al-Abbas's (P) holy shrine and the preparatory committee delivered by the head of the scientific complex of the Holy Quran at the holy shrine, Dr. Mushtaq al-Ali, in which he stressed that "more than fifty texts were received from different countries, from the Gulf, North Africa and the Levant, as well as the host country (Iraq), and the competition was intense, made the task of sorting the winners difficult for the judging committee, which was elected from the academic and cultural arenas".
