In the midst of the ongoing projects set up by the technical and engineering staff of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine, which aim to server the visitors with the best of means. And for the purpose of giving the aesthetic aspect to the holy shrine, to maintain its architectural facilities and to preserve the architectural heritage with a modern aspect and high durability and efficiency, the first part of the project to strengthen, develop and gilding the Iwan's dome at the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine was completed according to the technical and engineering plans that were approved, this Iwan is located at the left side of the main entrance of the holy shrine from the side of the gate of Al-Qiblah, the completed area is approximately 100 m2, and immediately upon the completion of works, which is completed in record time, the works in the second part will start, at the right side of the holy shrine entrance.

The head of the engineering projects department at the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine, Engineer Dea' Majeed Al-Sa'egh stated at Al-Kafeel Network: "There are many projects carried out by our department inside the holy shrine of Abu Al-Fadl Al-Abbas (peace be upon him), according to the placed plan for this purpose, some are completed while others are under construction, including our project, which will bring considerable benefits. Among the most important conducted works are uprooting the old tiles and the maintenance of the mall, which is a very important stage as the old used brick and all ancient foundations are of mud entrenched beneath the soil and there is no insulating layer between it and the ground, which explained the damage that reach almost three to four meters from ground level, and this moisture impacted negatively on the wall and on the surface of the gilded copper plates, leading to its oxidation and blackening. so the walls have been maintained and completely separated from the second layer with three to four other layers; the weather code layer, Ibosen layer, then weather code layer and the layer of the knot-work, all of which are a modern insulating materials, then the coppered gilded tiles are pasted on the wall of the dome fronting the gate of Al-Qilbah."

It is worth noting that in the gilding operation, the 24 carat gold was used in different sized and with a weight of 10 grams of pure gold for each gold tile, which thickness is of 2mm, using the best techniques by hammering on the suede leather. each fabricated tile is subject of standardization testing and quality control in the Planning Iraqi Ministry. there will be also the use of fonts, motifs and Quranic verses inscribed on the gold mixed with the warm enamel, which is considered one of the finest enamel that interact with copper, and characterized by its resistance and brilliance, using the modern technique of linking these gold tiles by screws, to not affect its outside appearance.
