The lost and found Division at the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine has a bright history in the services of the visitors..

Al-Kafeel Network met with the responsible of the lost and found division of the Religious Affairs Department at the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine, Mr. Ahmed Hamza Jaber, to speak about the beginnings of this Division its works and the problems they face in it, he stated:

"Lost and Found Division was established initially in 2004 as a division of the administration of the shrine, as there were no sections at that time, then the functions of the holy shrine have expanded and were distributed to affiliated departments and divisions, and our division becomes one of the divisions of the Department of Religious Affairs, either for those employees who are working inside the shrine or outside it. It was created as an urgent need due to the increasing numbers of the the visitors on the one hand and to return the lost items to their owners.

As for our duty is mostly the receipt and delivery of lost items that we receive either from the workers inside and outside the holy shrine or from the visitors, and for our part, we register it in customized bags for each item, until the legitimate owner asks for it, if not found, after one year, we give it to the legitimate ruler of his representative, who will deal with it as required by the religion.

As for the announcement of the lost items that we receive, there are two ways, the first is the direct way: Through asking directly at the Lost and Found Division near the Gate of Al-'Alqami (the gate of the Euphrates). The second is the indirect way: Through the phone numbers that are distributed in the form of small cards or posters as a mean of advertisement of the Division or through our link on the Al-Kafeel Global Network : http://alkafeel.net/lost/index.php
To allow the visitors to identify their lost items at the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine or at its environs, for an easy retrieval whether they are jewels, money, luggage, phones, cameras or official documents (identity card, passport, citizenship certificate, ration card, work card, etc.)"
