The Holy Quran Institute at the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine launches its first national contest..

In the blessed day of Friday, and on a blessed land that is one of the parts of Heaven on earth was launched at the morning of the 23rd Rabi' At-Thani 1436 AH corresponding to the 13th February 2015 at the Hall of Imam Al-Hassan (peace be upon him) for conferences and seminars at the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine, the first national Quranic contest for the graduates of the national project courses for preparing Quran readers in Iraq, which was adopted by the Holy Quran Institute at the holy shrine, with the participation of 200 contestants from most of Iraq's provinces.

The ceremony that was attended by distinct cultural and intellectual figures of those concerned with the Quranic matter, along with directors of local and international institutions of Quran, as well as the Secretary- General of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine, its officials and administrators with verses from the Holy Quran, followed by one of the graduates of the Quranic project courses, from the city of Nasiriyah, the reader Ahmad Jamal Al-Regabi the winner of the Al-Ghadeer international Quranic contest.

The attendees have listened to hymn of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine "The pride's melody," followed by the word of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine delivered by its Secretary-General Sayed Ahmad Al-Safi, in which he stated after thanking all those who have contributed and participated in the establishment of this project and this Quran's competition: "We salute all our dear brothers who carried this blessed torch -the torch of the Holy Quran-, those who follow the recommendations and guidances of the Holy Prophet (prayers and Allah's peace be upon him and his holy Household) when he said: "Indeed, I am leaving among you, that which if you hold fast to them, you shall not be misguided after me. One of then is greater than the other: (First is) The book of Allah is a rope extended from the sky to the earth, and (the second is) my family, the people of my house (Ahl Al-Bayt), and they shall not split until they meet me at the hawd (the Judgement day's basin), so look at how you deal with them after me." So holding to the holy Quran and the pure family of the holy prophet is the clear way to the path of the truth, and the one adhering to the path of right will not be misguided."

Then the director of the Holy Quran Institute, Sheikh Jawad Al-Nasrawi delivered his word in which he reviewed the objectives of this project and the activities of the Institutes as a whole, stating: "Since the inception of the Holy Quran Institute, it has among its objectives to stimulate the Quranic activity and supplying it with readers, that is why it has adopted many projects such as summer courses, in which the beneficiaries reached almost 6000, the project of teaching the correct reading to the visitors during Zyarat periods, in which the number of beneficiaries reached 41.000, as well as the national project to establish Quranic evenings at the holy shrines and the project of publishing the holy Quran along with the spoken Quran, in addition to the Quranic project for the students of the Iraqi institutes and universities in collaboration with the House of Quran at the Imam Al-Hussayn's (p) holy shrine, in which the number of the participating students reached 1200. Then came the national project to prepare Quran readers, a project that is praised and supported by many, especially the local and international Quran institutions such as the Syndicate of the Egyptian Readers. 17 different sessions were held for teaching the regulations of recitations, from which 200 readers have graduated, and who will be themselves responsible to teach in the future courses in order to ensure its breadth development and prepare new Quran readers."

Then a documentary film about this Quranic project was displayed, followed by honouring the outstanding readers who have won local and international awards. The ceremony was concluded by a number of Quranic psalms and poems expressing the love of Ahl Al-Bayt (peace be upon them).

It is noteworthy that the Holy Quran Institute in addition to the establishment of this contest, it has organized many Quranic evenings and takes care of the talented children and the youth by the development of their talents in the learning, recitation and interpretation of the Holy Quran, as well as cooperating with the other Quranic institutions to exchange experiences and participate in competitions and festivals, and opening preparation courses for the Quran teachers.
