200 contestants participate in the first national Quranic competition for the recitation..

At the hall of Imam Al-Hassan (peace be upon him) for conferences and seminars at the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine, on the afternoon of Friday the 23rd Rabi At-Thani 1436 AH, corresponding to the 13th February, 2015, was launched the first national Quranic competition held by the Holy Quran Institute at the holy shrine.

The competition was attended by distinct religious figures along with those interested in Quranic affairs in addition to the contestants who come from several Iraqi provinces, who have graduated from courses held within the Institute program and who have undergone and succeeded the preliminary tests.

The contestants, who rushed to the podium, have undergone many tests under the supervision of a jury composed of international judges and readers, who are: Hassanein Al-Helu and Ali Al-Bayati for judging the tune, Rafi' Al-'Amiri and Mustafa Al-Ghalibi for judging the melody, Mahdi Qalandar and Ahmad Al-Najafi for judging the start and stop times, and Seraj Munir and Ahmad Al-Badri for judging the voice.

A draw is conducted for each reader to select the Chapter and the number of verses he will be reading, and his grades are calculated based on his performance and his recitation. The competition includes 200 contestants, from which there will be 72 winners, from which 40 winners will selected to result the last three contestants.

It is noteworthy that the Holy Quran Institute in addition to the establishment of this contest, it has organized many Quranic evenings and takes care of the talented children and the youth by the development of their talents in the learning, recitation and interpretation of the Holy Quran, as well as cooperating with the other Quranic institutions to exchange experiences and participate in competitions and festivals, and opening preparation courses for the Quran teachers.
