For the third year in a row, the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine honours the top students of the Iraqi universities and institutes..

To continue its support to the distinguished and talented people of this country, especially students, for the third year in a row the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine has held within its program of the Al-Kafeel national youth represented by the Division of University relations of the Department of relations, a ceremony to honour 300 of the top students of universities and institutes of Iraq for the academic year (2013/2014).

The ceremony was held at the Sheikh Al-Kulayni complex on the 30th of Rabi' Al-Thani, 1436 AH, corresponding to the 20th of February, 2015, in the presence of the deans of colleges and institutes, representatives of the holy shrines in Iraq and academic figures, as well as the honoured students with their parents, and a large presence of some heads of departments at the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine and members of its Board of Directors, led by its Secretary-General Sayed. Ahmed Al-Safi.

The ceremony started with recitation of verses from the Holy Quran and then the attendees stood up to listen to the national anthem of Iraq and the anthem of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine, followed by the word of the Secretary General of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine Sayed Ahmed Al-Safi, in which he stated:

"We cherish with a special pride our universities and their distinguished professors who have been making great efforts to transfer their knowledge to the students. This pride stems from the ancient cultural heritage and civilization of Iraq."

Sayed. Al-Safi explained: "This honour ceremony is a tribute for us too, as Iraq needs all the potential of each of us, especially during this period in which the country rebuild itself, so if people of knowledge and thought would not participate in this reconstruction, the ignorants will."

Adding: "Every official and decider in the country must solve their problems by turning to the people of knowledge and to the professors and universities, as they are an important part of this community, and they should have the opportunity to help the State institutions and participate in the development of the country."

Then Sayed Al-Safi called the students to not let themselves to be a cheap tool used to sell the homeland, advising them: "Dear sons and daughters, take a good care of Iraq, and dear brothers University professors, these students are a responsibility, which you must give a special care in accordance with the approach that leads to the sound life, love of the homeland and the acceptance of the other. In fact, we need everyone's efforts as we pass though a great crisis and affliction names "The terrorists of ISIS" may God help us to defeat them."

Then, Haj Ali Al-Saffar from the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine has read an enthusiastic national poem about Iraq and the current events.

The Secretary-General of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine, Sayed Ahmed Al-Safi has offered the shield of the holy shrine to the Iraqi universities and institutes, then the ceremony was concluded by the distribution of appreciation certificates and gifts by the Secretary-General of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine, Sheikh Salah Al-Khafaji the head of religious affairs department, Sheikh Adil Al-Wakeel from the same department, Engineer Jaafar Mohamed board member of the holy shrine, Mr. Ali Kammoona the representative of United Nations in Iraq and some of the heads of departments of the holy shrine, to the 300 top students to encourage them to carry on their excellency for the service of this country. The honour ceremony also included those in charge of the project of Al-Kafeel Youth and its founders.

For their part, the students and their parents thanked and praised the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine for this event, which they have considered a motivating step for them in order to do more for the service of this country.
