A medical team at Al-Kafeel Super Speciality Hospital successfully performed an operation to remove a tumor from the spinal cord of a 4-year-old girl.
Dr. Wael Qasem, a specialist in spinal surgery, said:"the team performed a successful operation on a 4-year-old girl who came to the hospital suffering from a fatty tumor on the spinal cord, which led to severe adhesion.
He added, "We succeeded in removing the tumor completely and freeing the spinal cord with the manufacture of a new meninges, so that the child can walk, "noting that" this type of operation is necessary to be performed early to ensure the success of the surgical work and give better results to the patient."
These operations are performed at Al-Kafeel hospital on an ongoing basis because it has modern devices that facilitate surgical work, such as a nerve monitor, a microscope and other supplies available in the operating theaters, according to Qasem.
