The Imam Ali's (p) Holy Shrine launches the activities of the seventh International Book Exhibition..

With the participation of 182 publishing Houses and institutions from seven Arab and Islamic countries as well as Iraq, and in conjunction with the 1400th anniversary of making Kufa as Islamic capital by Imam Ali Ibnu Abi Taleb (peace be upon both of them), on Saturday 22nd of Jumada Al-Ula 1436 AH corresponding to the 14th March 2015 were launched the activities of the Seventh International Book Exhibition in the sanctuary of Saint Fatima Az-Zahra (peace be upon her) at the holy shrine of Imam Ali (peace be upon him).

The opening ceremony of this cultural event was attended by a group of intellectuals, writers, academicians, clergy and notables from inside and outside Iraq, including a delegation from the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine.

Secretary-General of the Imam Ali's (p) holy shrine, Sheikh ZiaUddin Zainuddin has stated in his speech during the opening ceremony of the exhibition: "You are most welcome to celebrate with us two occasions: The first is the Seventh Book Exhibition and the second is the completion of the concrete structure of the sanctuary of saint Fatima Az-Zahra (peace be upon her), the library and the museum, included by a greater occasion that is the 1400th anniversary of making Kufa as Islamic capital by Imam Ali Ibnu Abi Taleb (peace be upon both of them). We greet all the presents here and also those brothers that are defending our sanctities and holy shrines, praying that God may help them and give them patience an success."

The head of the Shiite Endowment Sayed 'Alaa Al-Musawi explained in his speech in this ceremony: "In Iraq, this generation suffer from the problem of abandonment of books, which wasn't present before, as Iraqi people, in all their segments were known by loving to read, but the different kinds of injustices suffered by this country have resulted this state of distance from the book. And today, we extend cooperation bridges with this generation in order to urge them to read more, and setting up these book exhibitions is very important for our youth and societies, aiming to to make books of good cultures accessible to young people, as the healthy thought and ideology is more important than a healthy body. Therefore, what we present to the youth should be well studied and within the principles of the Imams of Guidance (peace be upon them)."

The opening ceremony also included the speech of the Committee supervising the Seventh International Book Exhibition, delivered by the board member of the administration of the holy shrine, Mr. Ali Khadeer HAjji, saying: "Our infallible Imams have urged on writing and books, Sheikh Kulayni has put a chapter about the preference of sticking to the books and has presented many narrations about this area, stating narrators such as Zurarah Ibn A'yan who has narrated Hadiths of our holy Imams (peace be upon them) urging to the acquisition of books. And libraries of the holy city of Najaf are pioneers in this aspect of the acquisition different books and publications of different fields. The Library of the holy shrine of Imam Ali (peace be upon him) is one of the richest libraries as the department of intellectual affairs at the Imam Ali's (p) holy shrine is very active in this field and held annually a book exhibition in this holy city that gave birth to many virtuous scholars, writers and scientists."

Then, came the word of the supervisor of the Engineering Affairs and the member of the Board of administration of the holy shrine, the Engineer Abd Al-Saheb Khawam as well as the official of Al-Kawthar Company overseeing the construction of the sanctuary of saint Fatima Az-Zahra (peace be upon her) Sayed. Shushtari to submit and explanation for the projects that were opened in coincidence with this occasion, namely the completion of the installation of the concrete structure of the sanctuary of saint Fatima Az-Zahra (peace be upon her), the Great Library of the holy shrine, and the Museum of Imam Ali (peace be upon him). And at the end of the ceremony, the attendance headed to cut the ribbon to mark the opening of the activities of the exhibition and start to welcome its visitors.
