With high technical specifications: The completion of the project to extend the cable network of the electric station of the two holy shrines..

Under the direct supervision of the Department of Engineering Projects at the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine, the projects of nutritive electric cables' extension from the electric station of the two holy shrines (station that converts the secondary electric current) to the holy shrines of Imam Al-Hussayn and Al-Abbas (peace be upon both of them) and the area between the two holy shrines.

This, according to the head of the mentioned department, Engineer Dia Majeed Al-Sa'egh in his statement to the Al-Kafeel Network: "This project is one of the infrastructures rehabilitation projects of the holy shrines of Imam Al-Hussayn and Al-Abbas (peace be upon both of them), as the electric power is at the forefront of the vital pillars on which underlie other projects and services. That is why it was important to implement this project in accordance with the best technical and engineering specifications, starting with the generating station (station of the two shrines), which is a station of the conversion of secondary current with a capacity of (2 × 31,5 Megavolt/Ampere) assigned to the Imam Al-Hussayn's (p) holy shrine, passing though the extension works of the cables implemented by the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine on an estimated longitudinal space of 1500m."

Adding: "Praise be to God, a number of tests were established to these cables before the initiation of their implementation as they were chosen from Turkish origin type (Hess), based on data taken after measuring loads of both of the holy shrines with the output of the conversion of the transformed power, taking into account the future loads by seven lines for each shrine including the area between the two holy shrines."

Mr. Al-Sa'egh concluded explaining: "The work of this projects was in two phases: the first phase is the apparent drilling that has extended from the station of the shrines to the area of the shrines (900m), as for the second phase that was the hidden drilling was for 600m, we used it because of the large number of electric lines, water and sewer networks, old phone lines existing in the old city, especially that we ignored their correct positions. This drilling method was used for the first time in Iraq, through the use of tubes of a diameter of 2m pushed by a huge hydraulic machine and placed inside checkpoints with a depth of 6m surrounded by a thick concrete wall to ensure their stability and to keep its balance in the tube's pushing process, which is a straight path down to the holy shrines and the area between the two holy shrines, this checkpoints will be used in the future as points for the inspection and examination of the cables in case of malfunction or a certain defect."
