For the celebration of her blessed birth anniversary: The Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine held the Festival of Az-Zahra (peace be upon her) at the University of Karbala..

To celebrate the birth anniversary of the immaculate and venerated Fatima Az-Zahra (peace be upon her), the Lady of the world's women, the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine set up in collaboration with the University of Karbala within the activities of Al-Kafeel National Youth, the second annual cultural festival of Fatima Az-Zahra (peace be upon her).

The opening ceremony that was attended by a large number of the teaching staff of the University, its students, invitees and a high-level delegation that represented the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine, began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, reading Surat Al-Fatiha in memory of the martyrs of Iraq, followed by the national anthem and the anthem of the holy shrine (Pride's Melody).

Then came the word of the Presidency of the University of Karbala delivered by Prof Dr Munir Al-Saadi, in which he stated: "We gather today on the birth anniversary of Our Lady, the mother of her father, Fatima Az-Zahra (peace be upon her), who we could never understand her real position no matter how we try, but the question is, how can we get benefit from her (peace be upon her)?"

He added: "Today we are in front of a lesson from which we can learn a lot, and this celebration is an annual pause in our history to renew our study of what is happening, to learn from her the meaning of the real values, as everybody knows that Az-Zahra (peace be upon her) is the daughter of the best of the God's creations, and she embodies the head of the worlds' women, and we thank the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine for its interest of such activities."

Followed by the word of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine delivered by the Deputy Secretary-General Engineer Bashir Mohammed Jassem, who said: "The Almighty God has bestowed upon us His mercy, by blessing us with the love of Ahl Al-Bayt (peace be upon them), which is the best of the graces, but we should not forget that their love (peace be upon them) is accompanied with many tests in front of which we should be patient in order to deserve the title of their followers."

He continued: "During these days we celebrate the birth anniversary of Lady Az-Zahra (peace be upon her), who has the great position about which the Prophet (prayers and Allah's peace be upon him and his holy Household) has said: "She is the one who loves Allah and His messenger, and Allah and His messenger love her." So we ask the Almighty God to bestow us during the day of Judgement to be one of her followers."

Then, a video about the heroes of the combat squad of Al-Abbas (peace be upon him) on the battlefields was displayed. and the opening ceremony was concluded then by some poems and an interesting research of Dr. Hamid An-Najdi about "A bit of the blessed biography of Lady Az-Zahra (peace be upon her)."
