A medical team specializing in neurosurgery at Al-Kafeel Super Speciality Hospital has achieved a new medical achievement, by successfully performing a complex surgery to remove a large brain tumor, for a woman in the third decade.
Dr. Hossam al-Anbari, consultant neurosurgeon at the hospital, said that"the 34-year-old patient, who suffers from severe pain in the head, had been diagnosed with migraine, but after careful medical examinations, it turned out that there was a large tumor in a very sensitive area, the area of connection of the brain with the spinal cord."
"The tumor had reached a size of (4 × 3) centimeters, which caused displacement of the spinal cord and pressure on it, which was a real threat to the patient's life, as it could have led to quadriplegia or death,"he added.
"The medical team used the latest surgical techniques and accurate neurological monitoring devices during the operation, which contributed to accurately determining the boundaries of the tumor and removing it completely, without damaging the surrounding nerve tissue,"he added.
"The patient has fully recovered after the operation and is now in good health,"said Dr. Al-Anbari.
