The Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine has completed the installation of an artificial intelligence camera system in the axes of Karbala (Babylon - Najaf - Baghdad) to count visitors of the Arba'een.
Firas Abbas Hamza, the official of the Communications and Information Technology Division of the Engineering Projects Department at the holy shrine, said that " the system consists of smart cameras powered by artificial intelligence technologies, as these cameras determine the type of buses and calculate the number of people in them with high accuracy, and contain other cameras to recognize faces and calculate the number of pedestrians, which provides accurate statistics on the numbers of visitors arriving in Karbala."
"This system has been installed on the main roads leading to Holy Karbala, including Najaf, Babylon and Baghdad roads, to cover as much area as possible, and this system will work for 24 hours throughout the Ziyarat days, providing accurate data that will help in planning and providing services better,"he added.
Hamza explained, "We have installed a number of cameras on the Karbala - Najaf road on the 1087 column to count vehicles, and near the holy shrine procession on the 1100 column to count visitors walking on foot, while in the Karbala - Babylon Axis, cameras were installed near the pedestrian bridge, in addition to installing cameras in the Karbala - Baghdad axis near the 360 column," pointing out that "the lamps will start operating today to operate the system Day and night".
The new system replaced the previous one used since 2016 until 2023, and it is characterized by being more modern and accurate in calculating the number of visitors, and it works fully automatically without the need for any human intervention.
