The staffs of the green belt continue to harvest dates of various varieties

The staff of the southern green belt department of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine continues to harvest dates from palm plantations in the project's oases.

The head of the Department, Mr. Nasser Hussein Miteb, said that "the specialized staff of the department continues to harvest dates from palm trees planted within the southern green belt, on a daily basis in conjunction with the date picking season".

He added that"the varieties of dates this year are diverse, and are being prepared to launch them in local markets after the completion of the picking process, which lasts more than a month."

He pointed out that" the quantities of dates harvested in just six days include more than 6,000 baskets of Rutab dates, and 12 thousand kilograms of Zuhdi dates, "stressing that"this year's production will exceed the production of last year, which amounted to about 250 tons, as a result of continuous care, processing, fertilizing and irrigation of palms."
