The Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine has launched the seasonal campaign for industrial potato cultivation in the Ferdaws agricultural project in the Karbala desert.
The Firdaws agricultural project is characterized by the production of industrial potato crop, as it is used in the manufacture of products that are marketed to specialized local companies, to contribute to the operation of local factories and reduce dependence on imports.
The project achieved high productivity and excellent quality compared to the crops on the market, which contributed to achieving self-sufficiency of this crop and enhancing food security, and the product is characterized by its high nutritional value and resistance to viral, fungal and bacterial diseases, thanks to the adoption of advanced agricultural techniques.
The project comes as part of the Shrine's efforts to promote the agricultural sector in the country, as modern agricultural techniques were used to adapt the difficult desert conditions and turn it into a fertile environment capable of producing industrial potato crop, which is suitable for industrial and human uses, and is an important step in achieving self-sufficiency and supporting local factories that rely on these raw materials.
The project is witnessing an increasing production of industrial potatoes, as the staffs of the holy shrine were able to overcome the challenges of the desert environment, thanks to the use of the latest agricultural technologies, which made the difficult sandy lands suitable for agriculture.
