The Department of medical affairs at the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine announced the sending of about 38 tons of medical materials to the displaced Lebanese in Syria.
The head of the department, Dr. Haifa al-Tamimi, said that"the campaign comes in response to the call of the supreme religious authority in Najaf, and the directives of the Senior Official of the holy shrine; Sayed Ahmad al-Safi, to do what contributes to alleviating the suffering of the Lebanese people and securing their humanitarian needs, and within the framework of the keenness of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine to provide the best medical services to the displaced Lebanese in Syria."
She added that "the medical materials sent to the displaced Lebanese in Syria through the convoys of the Al-Abbas's (p) shrine, amounted to about 38 tons, including medical materials, and the department is working to prepare a medical shipment of up to 10 tons".
With regard to the medical services for the guests of Iraq, al-Tamimi explained that "the staff of the department has equipped medical detachments inside the province of Karbala; in order to provide medical services to the Iraqi guests from the Lebanese, and the detachments included multiple sites belonging to the holy shrine, including the Sheikh Al-Kulayni complex".
She pointed out that" the Iraqi Ministry of health supports medical detachments with volunteer health teams of both sexes on Thursdays and Fridays, in addition to providing the detachments with medical materials, "pointing out that"the department, in cooperation with the Karbala health department, is working to form multi-disciplinary mobile medical teams in order to follow up on sick cases and provide the necessary medical materials for Lebanese guests."
