The secretary general of the holy shrine; Sayed Mustafa Mortada Aal Dia-Uddin, said that "the agreement comes in accordance with the vision of the Senior Official; His Eminence Sayed Ahmad al-Safi, on the need to document The Crimes of the buried Baath Party, and the dark era that the Iraqi people lived and our dear country was exposed to".
He added that" the Al-Abbas's (P) Shrine seeks to document these crimes, because of their negative impact on the psychological level of our society, especially the families of the martyrs of that period, "noting that"the crimes of the Baath Party have multiple forms, including fighting the Hussayni rituals, praying in mosques, and fighting religion, and that documenting them contributes to informing the generations that came after the end of that dark period on the tragedies experienced by Iraqi society.
The secretary-General pointed out that" the agreement includes documenting crimes in a clear, explicit and accurate manner from the institutions that have their own documents; in order to address the damage that resulted from them, "stressing that"the Al-Abbas's (p) Shrine opens its doors to everything that would serve the Iraqi people and build a society proud of its principles."
For his part, the head of the political prisoners Foundation, Dr. Hussein Ali Khalil al-Soltani, explained that "we signed a memorandum of understanding with the holy shrine in order to document the stage of the former regime, with its tyranny, human rights violations and crimes," pointing out that "the task of documenting that era is a national responsibility, because we experienced conditions in which human rights were violated, and in order to remain alive in the memory of future generations."
Al-Soltani stressed that"the political prisoners Foundation has made great efforts over the past years to document that period, in cooperation with the al-Wafi foundation of the Al-Abbas' (p) Shrine, with the aim of issuing several volumes documenting the positions of prisoners and the injustice and tyranny they were subjected to".
In the same context, the director of the Iraqi Center for the documentation of extremist crimes of the Department of Intellectual and Cultural Affairs at the Al-Abbas's (p) Shrine; Dr. Abbas Al-Quraishi, stressed that "this agreement is one of the strategic agreements of the center, as it will be a major reason to provide it with databases and documents dealing with the crimes of the Baath regime and its policies practiced against the Iraqi people".
He added that"the terms of the agreement include the holding of conferences, seminars, workshops and exhibitions, in addition to developing the skills of employees in archiving, documentation and restoration of documents that are subject to damage, especially those that prove convictions against the Baathist regime, and it also came from the point of view of enhancing the memory of Iraqi society and generations that have not experienced the era of that regime."
