The eleventh edition of the International Book Fair of Karbala, held within the program of the International Cultural Festival of the Martyrdom's Spring and which lasted for fifteen days, was concluded on the afternoon of the Wednesday 8th of Sha'ban 1436 AH corresponding to the 27th of May 2015.
The organizing committee has set up for this occasion a closing ceremony at the holy site of Zaynab (peace be upon her) with the attendance of a number of members of the Board of Management of the two holy shrines, the head of the departments and the representatives of the publishing houses and institutions participating in this fair, in order to pay tribute to the participants.
The closing ceremony included the word of the holy shrines of Imam Al-Hussayn and Al-Abbas (peace be upon both of them) delivered by the Deputy Secretary-General of the holy shrine of Imam Al-Hussayn (peace be upon him), Sayed. Afdal Al-Shami in which he presented his thanks and gratitude to all who participated and contributed to the success of this event, which was complementary to the success of the eleventh edition of the International Cultural Festival of the Martyrdom's Spring.
The organizing committee of the fair has also an intervention delivered by the director of the exhibition, Sayed. Muyassar Al-Hakeem, in which he expressed his happiness of the diversity of the publications of the participating publishing houses, which came in tune with the international intellectual and cultural renaissance, which made this fair a focus of attention of many pioneers of the book exhibitions. There was the participation of 117 publishing houses and institutions coming from nine countries: (United Arab Emirates - Britain - Palestine - Jordan - Iran - Lebanon - Syria - Egypt), in addition to Iraq, which was a clear message that the Iraqi citizen is a lover of culture and thought and human that can adapt to most conditions and challenges.
At the conclusion of his speech, the book fair's director has called the publishing houses to intensify their participation in the subsequent editions. The ceremony was concluded by the distribution of appreciation shields to the distinguished pavilions and appreciation certificates to all participating publishing houses.
