The ceremony, which was held in the courtyard of Qibla gate of the shrine of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him), witnessed the presence of Dr. Afdhal al-Shami, a member of the holy shrine's Board of Directors, Mr. Jawad Al-Hasnawi, the director of the Office of its Senior Official, a number of its officials, religious figures, in addition to a large number of visitors who flocked to celebrate this occasion.
The ceremony began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, and then Dr. Afdhal al-Shami delivered a speech by the general secretariat of the holy shrine, offering congratulations to those present and to the Islamic nation on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him).
In his speech, Dr. Al-Shami touched upon aspects of the blessed biography of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him), pointing to his virtues and his exalted status with the messenger of Allah (Allah's prayers be upon him and upon his holy Household), and his great role in establishing the principles of justice and courage.
For his part, a member of the central celebrations committee at the holy shrine; Sayed Aqeel al-Yasiri, said: "the ceremony included various paragraphs, including: making celebratory speeches, presenting poems, in addition to religious songs for the Blessed anniversary, as well as honoring the winners of the companion Habeeb Ibn Madhaher contest, for the best author about the supporters of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him), which witnessed several entries, including three authors nominated.
Al-Yasiri added that"the ceremony concluded with honoring the winners of the electronic cultural competition prepared by the general secretariat of the holy shrine on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him), as ten winners were honored in this competition".
The Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine is keen to organize cultural and awareness-raising events on special occasions for the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), believing in the role of these events in promoting religious culture among visitors.
