The ceremony was organized by the University and School Relations Division at the Department of Public Relations at the holy shrine, with the participation of 250 students.
The ceremony was attended by the deputy secretary general of the holy shrine, Mr. Abbas Musa Ahmed, a number of its officials, academic and religious figures, and the celebrated students.
The ceremony began with a beautiful recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by the reader Laith Al-Obaidi, followed by reading Surah Al-Fatiha on the souls of the martyrs of Iraq, then listening to the Iraqi national anthem and the anthem of the holy shrine (Pride's Melody).
The ceremony included several paragraphs, including an orientation speech to the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine delivered by the head of the Department of Religious Affairs Sheikh Salah al-Karbalai on the importance of wearing the Iraqi abaya and commitment to Islamic values citing the hadiths of Ahl Al-Bayt (peace be upon them), the role of Lady Zaynab (peace be upon her), in addition to a speech by the president of Ahl al-Bayt University (peace be upon them) Dr. Hamid al-Najdi, a speech for the participating female students delivered by the student Hawra hammam, a poetic paragraph by the poet Ali Al-Saffar and the poet Ahmed al-Zamili, and honoring the female students wearing the Iraqi abaya.
The ceremony comes within the efforts of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine to promote religious and cultural values among female university students, and to emphasize the role of the Iraqi abaya as a symbol of chastity and national identity.
