The scientific committee of the pain memory conference in Iraq announced that it received 122 scientific papers, from 12 Islamic and Arab countries, to participate in the conference, confirming the acceptance of 106 of them.
The conference will be held in cooperation between the UNESCO chair for Genocide Prevention Studies at the Faculty of Arts - Baghdad University, the Iraqi Center for documentation of extremist crimes affiliated to the Department of Intellectual and Cultural Affairs at the holy shrine, the Martyrs Foundation, the political prisoners Foundation, and the Supreme National Authority for accountability and justice, on April 16-17, 2025.
The conference aims to overcome the past by building an Iraqi national identity against extremism; in order to ensure a secure future for future generations free from pain, and to record The Crimes of extremism and present them to international public opinion; to contribute to addressing the social and psychological effects of violence, genocide, crimes and violations.
The conference will include a workshop entitled (Memory of the Speicher crime, memory of the place, execution, brutal violations, and their social, psychological and security dimensions), organized by the Speicher 1700 victims association, in cooperation with the UNESCO chair for genocide prevention studies.
