The Al-Abbas's (P) holy shrine participates in the sixth international scientific conference on Mesopotamian Antiquities

The Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine participated in the activities of the sixth international scientific conference on Mesopotamian Antiquities.

The conference is held by the Faculty of Archaeology at the University of Qadisiya, under the slogan "Antiquities of Mesopotamia from Nippur to the ancient Kufic pilgrimage route between the authenticity of antiquities and the uniqueness of heritage" for the period of 24-25 days".

The assistant head of the Department of the al-Kafeel Museum of treasures and manuscripts, at the holy shrine, Dr. Shawqi al-Mousawi, said in his speech during the conference, "Research and studies are no less important than literature and the Arts in providing information to be delivered to any target segment, as research and studies address minds, while literature and the arts address feelings, and perhaps combining minds and feelings in the speech of knowledge is the most effective and successful."

He continued, " from here came the planning of archaeological, cultural and museum institutions in general, and the Faculty of Archaeology at the University of Qadisiyah in particular, supervising the activities of the sixth international scientific conference of Mesopotamian antiquities, held at the Faculty of Archaeology, which is now being held under the auspices of the Ministry of higher education and scientific research, the presidency of the University of Qadisiyah, and the Deanship of the Faculty of Archaeology, under the slogan: (Mesopotamian antiquities from Nippur to the ancient Kufic pilgrimage route between the authenticity of antiquities and the uniqueness of heritage) for the period 24 - 25 / 2 / 2025, within several axes of ancient antiquities and studies.

Al-Mousawi said that "many developed countries of the world have taken an interest in mass culture in its various conceptual dimensions, whether cultural or social dimensions, and accordingly established international museums that embrace the cultural heritage and Islamic heritage, in order to review the cultures and civilization of peoples, as they monitor the history of nations and the traditions of their peoples according to their educational programs, contributing to aesthetic and civilized, with religious, cognitive, social, political and educational dimensions".

He added that " the world is witnessing a renaissance in the development of archaeological, historical and heritage museums, and their number has been increasing through the ages, at the global level, the Arab in general, and the Iraqi in particular, as well as the establishment of a number of museums, cultural and intellectual centers and academic institutions at the holy shrines in Iraq, the most important of which are: The al-Kafeel Museum of treasures and manuscripts belonging to the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine, which is the first museum in the holy shrines, which was opened in 2009, and the museum included a large number of treasures and collectibles, some of which date back hundreds of years, which presented four scientific conferences, dealing with museology, many cultural and heritage seminars, as well as the issuance of a number of publications, including a cultural magazine dealing with museums, Antiquities, Islamic Arts and other workshops and art courses".

He continued by saying, " as well as the Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) Museum at the Imam al-Hussayn's(p) holy shrine, which was opened in 2011, and included heritage pieces, rare and distinctive treasures and collectibles, and other museums of the holy shrines, which is an invitation from the holy shrines for all researchers, specialists and international experts to visit these heritage museums in general and the al-Kafeel Museum in particular, to see thousands of manuscripts and treasures."

Al-Moussawi concluded his speech, "today we are witnessing the crowning of researchers whose participation won the approval of the judging committees of the conference, within a scientific archaeological and museum ceremony of a distinguished scientific conference, its sixth edition (we meet together to rise), and we thank all the contributors to the success of the conference, in order to revive the heritage and cultural heritage".

For his part, the dean of the Faculty of Archaeology, Dr. Rajwan Faisal, said: "the conference witnessed a wide participation of researchers, writers and intellectuals from all over the world, as it was attended by 110 researchers, including 25 foreign researchers from different international universities."

"The conference highlights the latest methods used in the excavation and detection of archaeological sites that abound in the Iraqi provinces, especially the province of Qadisiyah,"he added.
