A medical team at Al-Kafeel Super Speciality Hospital was able to give hope to a patient suffering from chronic pain in the knee joint.
The specialist in orthopedics, fractures and joints at the hospital, Dr. Ahmed Ni'ma al-Taie, said that "a 42-year-old patient checked into the hospital complaining of chronic pain in the knee joint due to a previous operation outside Iraq," indicating "after conducting the necessary medical tests, it turned out that there was an involvement in her knee joint placed previously".
He added that" the patient's condition required a complex surgical operation, which consisted of three stages, in the first stage the joint was removed, cleaned and a special paste was placed, and in the second stage the area was cleaned again to make sure there was no inflammation, "explaining that"these two stages revealed a deficiency in the thigh and leg bones, and to address this deficiency we used a special joint designed for these cases, with supports that compensate for the lack of bones."
Al-Taie pointed out that" the operation was performed successfully, and the woman was able to move and walk the day after the operation,"pointing out that this medical achievement is evidence of the great development achieved by Al-Kafeel Super Speciality Hospital, as it is now able to perform complex operations that were previously performed abroad only, thanks to the availability of specialized medical capabilities and expertise."
