The Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine confirmed that the central graduation ceremony for Iraqi university students represents a model of national unity.
This came in a speech delivered by the official of the University and School Relations Division of the public relations department at the holy shrine, Mr. Maher Khalid, during the launch of the fifth edition of the ceremony organized by the division within the national Al-Kafeel youth project, with the participation of about 5 thousand students representing 64 universities in various governorates of Iraq.
The speech began by welcoming the students participating in the ceremony, offering congratulations to them at the end of their academic career at the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine, and from the city of Imam al-Hussayn and his brother Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (Peace be upon him), urging them to exert maximum efforts in order to serve Iraq and its people, and maintain the scientific honesty they carry.
Khalid said in his speech: "the graduation ceremony project for students of Iraqi universities has been launched since 2011 under the auspices of the blessing of the Senior Official of the holy shrine, His Eminence Ahmad al-Safi, so it was the first seed in the Universities of the center and the south, and after a time it included all Iraqi universities from North to South."
He added that"the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine is holding this ceremony for a number of reasons, including: that the holy shrine was and still is a haven for Iraqi unity under its dome, as there is no difference between an Arab, a Kurd and a Turkmen, all of whom meet on behalf of Iraq, in addition to linking the scientific graduation process with the spirit of the message of faith, as the university degree, when blessed in a house of God, it carries a double responsibilities: the Science and ethics".
He explained that " Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him) was not only a symbol of redemption, but he was an example of obedience, discipline, and insight, which are the same values that we need today in the fields of work, reform, and nation-building," pointing out that "the ceremony sends a message to the world that Iraq is not built with weapons only, but with those young people who stand today in graduation robes, meet history with eyes overflowing with science, dignity, and belonging."
He continued that "we believe that those who stand on the land of Karbala must remember the blood that irrigated this land for the sake of truth, and that the Al-Abbas's (P) holy shrine does not want to remain a keeper of heritage only, but a sponsor of the present, a maker of the future, shares the joy of the compatriots, honors the distinguished among them, embraces the brilliant minds to be leaders of change, not followers of tradition, in addition to connecting generations, those who were martyred for the sake of values, those who graduated to serve it, and the kindest blood, the extension of the pen, between the glorious past and the desired future".
The Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine aims to celebrate graduates, provide a distinguished model for graduation ceremonies befitting university students, and culminate and conclude their academic career at the holy shrines.
