The activities of the first edition of the first memory promotion festival in Najaf province kicked off on Sunday morning.
The festival, organized by the University of Kufa, is held under the auspices of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine represented by the al-Wafi foundation for documentation and studies, and under the slogan (lessons of the past ... the beginning of the future), in order to shed light on the crimes that the Iraqi people were subjected to by the former regime and Takfiri groups.
The opening was attended by the member of the board of Directors of the holy shrine; Sayed Laith al-Mousawi, a number of its officials, in addition to academic, religious and academic figures, and a gathering of staff and students of the University of Kufa.
The president of the foundation; Sayed Ahmad Sadiq, said that"the festival's activities began with the opening ceremony, which began with reading verses from the wise Holy Quran, then listening to the Iraqi national anthem, a speech of the holy shrine and another of the University of Kufa, and a speech of the Hawza; Sayed. Mohammad Ali Bahr al-Uloom, in addition to discussing two research papers."
He added that" the opening of the festival included a video presentation about the crimes committed against the Iraqi people, and honoring a number of families of martyrs during the time of the former regime and the martyrs of the Holy Defense fatwa, "pointing out that"there are scientific, preparatory, media and technical committees, adopt the establishment of various events that the festival includes."
Sadeq continued," the festival will witness the opening of a cultural exhibition that includes the display of many books, documents and photos, as well as special collections of the martyrs of the Hawza, and will last several days, "pointing out that"the exhibition is held with the participation of the Imam Ali's (p) Holy Shrine, and the Martyrs Foundation Najaf branch."
The memory enhancement festival is the first of its kind to be held in Iraqi universities, and seeks to revive the national memory and document historical events affecting the Iraqi society.
