The pain memory conference in Iraq witnesses the opening research session

The events of the first day of the annual International Conference memory of pain in Iraq witnessed the holding of the opening research session in English.

The conference is being held by the Iraqi Center for documenting extremist crimes, affiliated with the Department of Intellectual and Cultural Affairs at the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine, in cooperation with the UNESCO chair for Genocide Prevention Studies at the Faculty of Arts, Baghdad University, the martyrs and political prisoners institutions, the Higher National Authority for accountability and justice, and the University of Baghdad, under the slogan (for a future free from pain), and under the title (memory of pain in Iraq is a century of crimes, genocides, massacres and violations).

The opening research session was chaired by Dr. Haider al-Moussawi, and its rapporteur, Dr. Amer al-Morshidi, and discussed three papers in English: "documenting ISIS mass crimes against the cultural heritage of specific population groups in Iraq: a critical assessment of the work of the United Nations investigation team (unitad)" by researcher Pierre,"dealing with the painful past through education: UNESCO frameworks and approaches" by researcher Isabel, and"conceptual approaches to education about the painful past" by researcher Natasha.

The session witnessed interventions by the attendees, focused on the importance of documenting mass crimes and preserving national memory.

The memory of pain conference in Iraq contributes to the revival of national identity and the strengthening of collective consciousness and the compassionate spirit, which enhances social cohesion and helps protect society from New tragedies.
