The head of the Department, engineer Dia Majeed al-Sa'egh, said that the project of the building of the Al-Kafeel Museum of treasures and manuscripts is one of the expansion projects of the Old City, and is implemented on an area of four thousand square meters at the beginning of the Republic street from the southern side of the Shrine of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him).
He added that the project consists of six floors, distributed between the Centers of manuscripts, restoration and maintenance and special galleries for the museum's Islamic and heritage collections, as well as textiles.
He pointed out that the project is being implemented as part of the horizontal expansion project, as the completion rate of the basement and the construction structure of the first floor reached 90%, stressing the continuation of work to ensure its completion according to the specified schedule.
Al-Sa'egh pointed out that the museum building project is one of the leading works in terms of location and services, as it will contain an 80-meter-high minaret, which forms a distinctive architectural landmark, and will be equipped from the inside with a panoramic design, providing a unique visual experience for visitors.
