The Supreme Religious Authority: What is needed from the prime minister is to be more daring and braver in his reforms and not to suffice with some secondary steps, and should strike with an iron fist those who tamper with the people's money..

The Supreme Religious Authority called on the Iraqi prime minister to be more daring and braver in his reforms and not to suffice with some secondary steps which he announced recently. He has to urge the government to take important decision and strict procedures against the corruption and to establish the social justice and should strike with an iron fist those who tamper with the people's money, and work to abolish the unacceptable privileges and allowances.
This statement was included in the second sermon of Friday prayer of the 21st Shawwal 1436 AH corresponding to the 7th August 2015, which was held in the holy shrine of Imam Al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) and lead by Sayed Ahmed Al-Safi, and in which he also stated:
"It is expected from Mr. Prime Minister, who is the first executive responsible in the country and who has expressed interest in the demands of the people and committed to its implementation, to be more daring and braver in his reforms and not to suffice with some secondary steps which he announced recently. He has to urge the government to take important decision and strict procedures against the corruption and to establish the social justice and should strike with an iron fist those who tamper with the people's money, and work to abolish the unacceptable privileges and allowances, which were given to the current and former officials in the state. We call him to push the political forces to exercise their responsibility and to point to those who slow down reform no matter who they are or what position they hold regardless of partisan and sectarian quotas for the sake of the state institutions' reform. And he should place the right man in the right position, even if he is not a member of the ruling parties and regardless of his sectarian or ethnic affiliation. And to not hesitate to displace whoever is not in the right place even if he is supported by some political forces, to not fear their rejection and opposition relying in that on the God Almighty, who ordered the administration of justice and we call on the honourable people who want him to do so to support and assist him in achieving that."
