A medical team at Al-Kafeel Hospital successfully removed a malignant tumor from the back muscles

A specialized medical team at Al-Kafeel Super Speciality Hospital successfully performed surgery on a six-year-old girl who was suffering from a malignant tumor in her back muscles.

The pediatric surgery specialist at the hospital, Dr. Sarmad Al-Rubaie, stated that the child underwent traditional, chemical, and radiation treatments for more than two years at several specialized medical centers, yet the tumor continued to grow, posing a serious threat to her.

He explained that the severity of the condition increased as the tumor penetrated through the back wall, connecting to the back nerves and vertebrae. Many hospitals refused to accept the case due to its complexity and the potential danger of the surgery. The situation became more difficult because the child was also suffering from viral hepatitis (B), posing an additional challenge for the medical team. The child was experiencing severe pain that hindered her movement and caused sleep disturbances.

Al-Rubaie pointed out that "the medical team at Al-Kafeel Hospital decided, out of humanitarian motives, to face the challenge by providing the necessary medical care for the child. We successfully performed the surgery, as the malignant tumor was completely removed, and the child left the hospital with her family in good health."
