The Scientific Complex of the Holy Quran at the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine concluded the summer Quranic courses project in the province of Babylon, with the participation of more than 10,000 students.
The ceremony was held at the shrine of Lady Sharifa, daughter of Imam al-Hassan (peace be upon them), and began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by the student Laith Anwar, followed by the recitation of Surah Al-Fatiha for the souls of the martyrs, and the singing of the national anthem and the anthem of Pride's Melody.
The ceremony included a welcoming speech delivered by Sheikh Hassan Al-Sailawi, followed by a speech from the General Secretariat of the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine delivered by Sheikh Jawad Al-Nasrawi, the director of the Holy Shrine's Quran Institute. This was followed by a speech from the project's students delivered by student Ahmad Rabah Al-Talibani, and then student Mujtaba Ahmad Abdul Hamza delivered the sermon of Imam al-Hassan (peace be upon him).
The ceremony featured a recitation of a folk poem presented by the poet Mahdi Ali, and concluded with the pledge to the Awaited Imam al-Mahdi (may Allah hasten his holy reappearance), delivered by the director of the institute's branch in Babylon, Mr. Muntadhar Al-Mashaykhi.
Sheikh Jawad Al-Nasrawi said: "Today we celebrate the graduation of a group of students participating in the summer Quranic courses project, which is organised by the General Secretariat of the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine, represented by the Quranic Institute affiliated with the Scientific Complex."
He added, "The closing ceremony witnessed the graduation of more than ten thousand students from Babil Governorate, among 60,000 students who participated in the project across 11 Iraqi governorates."
Al-Nasrawi explained that "the students received intensive lessons in memorisation, recitation, jurisprudence, beliefs, biography, and ethics for 45 consecutive days, which had a tangible impact on spreading Quranic culture and promoting moral values in society."
For his part, the director of the institute branch in Babylon, Mr. Muntadhar Al-Mushaykhi, pointed out that "the number of teachers who supervised the courses in Babylon reached 325 teachers, who contributed to honing the students' skills and discovering several promising talents among them."
