Announcing the arrival of the months of mourning... The two holy shrines are preparing for the ceremony of replacing the flags of the two holy domes

The holy shrines of Imam al-Hussayn and Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon them) are preparing to hold the ceremony of replacing the flags of the domes of Imam al-Hussayn and his brother Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon them) from red to black, signalling the beginning of the month of Muharram and Safar for the year 1447 AH, and the start of the season of mourning and Hussaini lamentation.

The ceremony for changing the flag of the dome of the shrine of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him) will be held at the entrance of the holy courtyard on Thursday evening, the 29th of Dhu al-Hijjah 1446 AH, corresponding to June 26, 2025, after the Maghrib and Isha prayers.

These ceremonies are an annual tradition that the two holy shrines have been accustomed to, renewing the sorrow over the tragedy of the Master of Martyrs; Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him), his family, and his companions who were martyred in the eternal Battle of Karbala, and reaffirming adherence to the principles of the Hussaini uprising.
