The roads leading to the shrines of Imam Aba Abdillah Al-Hussayn and his brother Aba Al-Fadl Al-Abbas (peace be upon them) witnessed the arrival of the Hussaini mourning processions on the first day of the month of Muharram Al-Haram 1447 AH.
The Zinjeel processions flocked to the holy sanctuaries to commemorate the martyrdom anniversary of Imam al-Hussayn, his family, and his companions (peace be upon them), in an annual tradition that the processions have adhered to with the arrival of the holy month of Muharram.
These processions continue their mourning marches throughout the month, according to an organisational plan prepared by the Department of Rituals, Processions, and Hussainiyah Bodies.
The processions move through specific streets leading to the Qibla gate of the shrine of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him), passing through his noble courtyard, heading through the area between the two holy shrines, and concluding their journey at the shrine of the Master of Martyrs, Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him).
The Rituals Department allocates special teams from its staff to accompany each procession from the moment it starts, tasked with organising the march, preventing gatherings or overcrowding, and ensuring no intersections occur between the processions and the visitors, according to pre-defined routes.
