After the shameful actions of the obscurantists' bats when they blew up the holy shrine of the two Imams Al-'Askariyayn (peace be upon both of them) in Samurra, and before that the wound get healed, the holy dome was under contruction again.
And despite the current situation of the country, the lovers and followers of Ahl Al-Bayt (peace be upon them) are delighted to see this holy dome completed and covered with gold to enlighten the sky once again.
As recently, the steel structures surrounding the dome of the holy shrine of the two Imams Al-'Askariyayn (peace be upon both of them) have been all lifted to let the dome with its golden cover to embrace the sky, the works of the internal dome and its covering were also completed.
It is well known that the first brick erected in the gilding project was on the 25th of March 2011, preceded by the gold processing in the lab, which was set up in the Al-'Askariyayn holy shrine. The works included also cutting and cleaning tiles of copper, then covering every piece of the insulating epoxy texture to enable the tile to resist to weather, then the front face of each tile was covered by cobalt, to protect it from water leakage, then finally was covered by gold. All this process is going through an electronic system, which is a modern method followed in the whole world.
The thickness of gilding in each tile is between 10 and 12 mm, weighing 14 to 18 grams of gold each, as there are different dimensions and measurements, as the dome has a curved shape, the measures are smaller on the top. This is the reason of the very accurate geometric measurements made under the regulations of the Central Agency for Standardization and Quality Control of the Iraqi Ministry of Planning.
It is to note that the project of the reconstruction ot the Al-'Askariyayn holy shrine was in response to the bombing, which targeted the holy shrine in the 23rd of Muharram 1427 AH and in the 27th Jumada Al-Oula 1428 AH.
