The Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine announces the success of its special plans for the Ashura commemoration and counts the services provided to the visitors

The Secretary-General of the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine; Sayed Mustafa Murtada Aal Dia-Uddin, announced the success of the plans for commemorating the martyrdom anniversary of Imam al-Hussayn, his family (peace be upon them), and his companions on Ashura.

Sayed Aal Dia-Uddin said, "We extend our deepest condolences to the Imam of our time, Al-Hujjah bin Al-Hasan (may Allah hasten his holy reappearance), the great scholars, and the entire Islamic world, especially the land of the prophets, successors, and saints, on the occasion of the martyrdom anniversary of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him). We ask God to protect the lands of Muslims from all evil and to return the visitors of Aba Abdillah al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) to their cities and homelands safe and sound, rewarded with the acceptance of their deeds and acts of worship."

He added, "As it has been for more than 13 centuries, the holy city of Karbala has been honoured by the guests and visitors of the Master of Martyrs; Imam al-Hussayn, and his brother Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon them) during the Ashura pilgrimage season. The servants of the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine have had the great honour of welcoming and providing various services to the esteemed visitors."

These services provided to the visitors during this blessed Ziyarat included:
- Preventive services:
The staff of the relevant departments worked on covering the area surrounding the holy shrine with saran fabric at appropriate heights, amounting to 39,849 square meters. Meanwhile, misting water sprayers covered an area of 24,088 square meters. Additionally, 12 cannons and 30 mist fans were used, and red carpets and nylon material were spread over an area of 39,080 square meters. Furthermore, 36 coolers were distributed in the courtyard between the two holy shrines, and the basement of the Umm al-Baneen (peace be upon her) courtyard was equipped with a cooling system with a capacity of 200 tonnes.

- Medical services:
The Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine deployed 12 medical detachments throughout the old city, 21 emergency response teams, in addition to 22 ambulances provided by the holy shrine and supporting entities. The medical detachments were equipped with 25 tonnes of various types of medications, and the number of beneficiaries of these services reached 22,535 people.

- Volunteers and media personnel:
10,162 volunteers participated in providing services to the visitors, while the number of media professionals covering the Ziyarat reached 320, along with 18 satellite channels.

- Perfuming services:
The Holy Sanctuary Division used 180 grammes of incense and 15 litres of perfumes daily, while the Care of the Holy Courtyard Department used 2.5 kilogrammes of incense daily, except on the 10th of Muharram when the department used more than 8 kilogrammes, in addition to more than 40 litres of perfumes.

- The processions:
A total of 748 processions participated in commemorating the first ten days of the month of Muharram, including 586 service processions and 162 mourning processions.

- Transportation services:
The vehicle department provided 312 buses specifically for transporting people, and 43 multi-purpose vehicles, while the service affairs department provided 200 wheelchairs for visitors with special needs.

- Beverage services:
The Service Affairs Department provided 14,748,600 cups of water to visitors during the first ten days of the month of Muharram, and 3,450,000 cups of clear water, along with 850 bags of crystalline ice, each weighing 16 kg.
Meanwhile, the Sayed servants' division distributed 20,000 cups of saffron and ginger drink from the seventh to the tenth of the month.
The Al-Kafeel Ice Factory produced 1,800 ice blocks daily throughout the days of the Ziyarat, and the Engineering Projects Department produced 1,000,000 litres of drinking water and 10,000,000 litres of water daily for various uses.

- Food services:
The departments of the Host restaurant, Al-Alqami Complex for Visitors, the Imam Al-Mahdi (may Allah hasten his holy reappearance) Shrine, and the Care of the Holy Courtyard provided 1,367,070 intermediate and main meals.
The Religious Affairs Department, in cooperation with the Hosting Department, provided 2,000 meals during the commemoration of Ashura in the city of Mosul.
