The procession of the Bani Asad tribe and Iraqi tribes commemorates the burial anniversary of the pure bodies in Karbala

The holy city of Karbala witnessed on the thirteenth day of the month of Muharram the procession of the Bani Asad tribe and Iraqi tribes to commemorate the burial anniversary of the pure bodies of Imam al-Hussayn, his family (peace be upon them), and his noble companions.

The Sheikh of the Bani Asad tribe in Al-Furat Al-Awsat, Mr. Zuhair Youssef, said that "the people of Karbala have become accustomed to commemorating and reviving this occasion as a traditional ritual, with the participation of the tribes and clans of the province, in addition to delegations representing several Iraqi tribes, led by the Bani Asad tribe, which had the honor in the year 61 AH of assisting Imam Zain al-Abidin al-Sajjad (peace be upon him) in burying the bodies of the martyrs of the Battle of Karbala."

He added that "the mourning processions of the tribes and clans participating in commemorating the burial of the pure bodies line up in groups, with each group representing a tribe, carrying symbols resembling the bodies of the martyrs of Karbala and some old tools that were used in the digging and burial process at that time."

The ceremonies witnessed the participation of mourning women in these mourning processions, where they joined separately to express their sorrow and condolences to Lady Zainab (peace be upon her) for this painful tragedy. Additionally, they chanted slogans of steadfastness on the path of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) and the continuation of the eternal Hussaini path that was drawn by the Master of Martyrs, Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him), with his pure blood in the sacred Karbala.

The mourning processions set off after the noon prayers from the vicinity of the shrine of Sayed Jawad (who is one of its prominent figures and considered the founder of these ceremonies), heading through the street surrounding the center of the old city and then to the street facing the shrine of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) to reach his holy shrine, and from there through the area between the two holy shrines, concluding the mourning journey at the shrine of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him).

The al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine mobilized its human and mechanical resources through its relevant departments to provide the best services to the mourning processions arriving to commemorate the burial of the pure bodies on the thirteenth of the month of Muharram.
