The Iraqi Center for Documenting Extremism Crimes, affiliated with the Intellectual and Cultural Affairs Department of the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine, received a delegation from the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) to discuss prospects for cooperation and partnership in the fields of documenting extremism crimes and developing research capacities in Iraq.
The center's director, Dr. Abbas Al-Quraishi, welcomed the visiting delegation and reviewed the center's most important projects and achievements in the field of documentation. The meeting was attended by the head of the research and studies unit at the center, Dr. Qais Nasser, and several of its researchers.
The Director of the German Agency Mission, Mr. Axel Klavik, and his accompanying delegation confirmed their eagerness to hold meetings and establish partnerships with the center in institutional support and the development of the capabilities of researchers and workers in the field of human rights and countering extremism, after the center's members were briefed on the agency's most important works and its interest in documenting extremism crimes.
The delegation members praised the center's work and achievements in the field of documentation, while the mission director, Mr. Klavik, gave a brief presentation on the main activities of the German agency in Iraq and expressed its interest in cooperating and building bridges of communication with national institutions active in the field of documenting and combating extremism.
Both sides emphasized the importance of building partnerships in the field of exchanging technical and knowledge-based expertise, which contributes to establishing a culture of justice and accountability, and enhancing societal peace in Iraq.
