For the tenth year... The area between the two holy shrines witnesses the organization of the largest pilgrimage in the name of Lady Ruqayyah (peace be upon her)

The area between the two holy shrines witnessed the organization of the largest mourning banquet (Sofrah) in the name of Lady Ruqayyah (peace be upon her) for the tenth year in a row, coinciding with her martyrdom anniversary.

The organization of the Sofrah is overseen by the Global Forum for the Service of Lady Ruqayyah (peace be upon her), in coordination with the Between the Two Holy Shrines Department at the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine.

The head of the department, Mr. Hussam Hussein, said, "For the tenth year, a Sofrah in the name of Lady Ruqayyah (peace be upon her) is organized on her martyrdom anniversary, under the supervision and support of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine administration. We have worked on preparing many arrangements for this Sofrah, in the central courtyard area between the two holy shrines."

He added that "the preparation works included cleaning the place, laying carpets, providing misting devices, fans, and coolers, in addition to fully equipping the sound system, with designated paths to ensure that the council does not affect the movement of visitors in the area."

For his part, one of the forum's staff, Mr. Ali Muhammad Abdullah, said, "The Sofrah is considered the largest of its kind coinciding with her martyrdom anniversary on the fifth day of the month of Safar," pointing out that "over the past years, the General Secretariat of the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine has provided us with significant support in several aspects that helped in establishing this blessed council."

He added that "Holy Karbala is one of 700 cities around the world that organize a special mourning meal in commemoration of the martyrdom anniversary of Lady Ruqayyah (peace be upon her) to convey her suffering to all people."

The sofrah included several segments, including the recitation of poetic and elegiac verses mourning this painful tragedy, attended by a number of reciters, poets, and mourners. Additionally, there was a theatrical performance depicting the life of Lady Ruqayyah (peace be upon her), where children gathered wearing green clothes, recalling her life and what she witnessed in the tragic event of Ashura.
