For the second year in row, the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine launches the International Annual Conference of the manuscript heritage preservation and revival..

The opening ceremony
Under the solgan: "Keep your book, you will need them" the second edition of the International Annual Conference of the manuscript heritage preservation and revival was launched on Sunday 20 Dhu Al-Hijjah, 1436 AH corresponding to the 4th October 2015 in the Hall of Imam Al-Hassan (peace be upon him) for Conferences and seminars, and that is held by the Library and House of Manuscripts of the Department of Intellectual and cultural affairs at the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine.
The opening ceremony, which was assisted by religious, cultural and academic figures from inside and outside Iraq, started by the recitation of verses of the Holy Quran, the National Iraqi anthem, the anthem of the holy shrine and recitation of Al-Fatiha in memory of the martyrs of Iraq. Then the Secretary General of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine, Sayed Ahmed Al-Safi delivered his word.
Followed by the word of Dr. Khaled Aran, the General Manager of the research Center for Islamic History, Art and Culture in Istanbul, the cultural department of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in the Turkish city of Istanbul, in which he gave a detailed explanation about the work and structure of the center since it was founded in 1980, and how it issued hundreds of books, research, studies and reference books in arts and studies of the translated meanings of the Holy Quran and a set of a scattered Islamic manuscripts in various world libraries, and then he thanked those in charge of this conference that he considered a link between the Research Center and the Library and House of Manuscripts at the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine.
Then came the word of the Preparatory Committee of the Conference delivered by Dr. Adel Nadheer, in which he explained: "Imam Ja'far As-Sadeq (peace be upon him) said: "Keep your books, you will need them" and among of the means of keeping the books is the work of revision, cataloging and restoration which are the units of the House and Library of Manuscripts at the holy shrine, and they are also the axes of our conference today, which comes to create a scientific climate in which can meet the interested in the arts of book preservation and to learn about the latest global developments."
Adding: "The scientific committee received fifty eight research, fourty three were accepted by the experts committee. Noting that the conference today is held by the international participation of Egypt, Algeria, Lebanon, Iran, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, India, Pakistan, Turkey, Italy, Germany and France as well as the host country Iraq."
Followed by the word of the participating delegations, delivered on their behalf by Dr. Mohammad Hameed Al-Salman from Bahrain.
Then, a documentary film was displayed about the library and house of manuscripts at the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine since its foundation and about the most important works in from drafting and revision as well as the valuables it contains.
These words were concluded by the words of the "Salar Jung" Museum in India by Mr. Ihtiram Ali Khan, in which he expressed his pleasure to attend and participate in this conference, which is the product and fruit of cooperation and communication the time when the delegation of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine came to the second annual cultural Festival of the Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him) in Haydar Abad Museum, and our participation is to prove and consolidate the relationship that will have a bright future, God willing, as the museum contains many treasures and manuscripts that need the hard work and spirit found in the Library and House of manuscripts at the holy shrine.
Then came the role of the researcher Dr. Said Abd Al-Hameed from Egypt to present his opening research entitled "Scientific basis of the documentation as one of the most important stages of preservation, preventive maintenance of the heritage."
The opening ceremony also included displaying a rare copy of the Holy Quran and a historical picture of the Mecca's Mosque of an old era of the General Secretary of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine presented by Dr, Khaled Aren the General Manager of the research Center for Islamic History, Art and Culture in Istanbul.
And after that the attendees enjoyed the lunch break at the host hall of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine, they headed to the manuscripts exhibition held on the sidelines of the conference, including a set of manuscripts that were revised and printed at the holy shrine.
