The book fair held as part of the first edition of the Mercy to the Worlds International Festival showcased more than 3,000 publications.
The Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine is organising the festival in celebration of the 1500th anniversary of the birth of the Prophet Mohammad (Allah's prayers be upon him and upon his holy Household), lasting for three days; it includes religious, cultural, and intellectual activities.
The exhibition official, Mr. Mohammad Al-A'raji, stated that "the first international Mercy to the Worlds Festival included the establishment of a book fair in the area between the two holy shrines, with the participation of the holy shrines of Imam Ali, Imam al-Hussayn and of Imam al-Hadi and Imam al-Askari (peace be upon them), in addition to the Secretariat of Kufa Mosque and Al-Sahla Mosque, as well as the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine pavilion, which includes several of its departments."
He added that "the exhibition will continue from the 15th to the 20th of Rabi' al-Awwal, showcasing more than 3,000 publications, including religious, cultural, and intellectual books, as well as special books for this occasion, commemorating the birth of the Prophet Mohammad (Allah's prayers be upon him and upon his holy Household)."
Al-A'raji pointed out that "the pavilions of the holy shrines included various competitions, allowing visitors to acquire publications from the holy shrines, including books specifically about the Prophet's biography and the lives of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them)."
The exhibition aims to highlight the intellectual and scientific outputs that coincide with the noble occasion, and to shed light on the efforts of the holy shrines in spreading authentic Islamic thought.
