The Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine hosts the closing events of the twelfth scientific conference of the Imami Medical Organization

The Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine hosted the closing events of the twelfth scientific conference of the International Medical Imamate Organization (IMI).

The conference events were attended by the Deputy Secretary-General of the Holy Shrine, Mr. Abbas Mousa Ahmed, and academic figures.

Dr. Haifa Al-Tamimi, head of the Medical Affairs Department at the holy shrine, said, "The conference was held in Iraq since the twenty-fifth of December of this year, and its activities concluded today in the Imam Al-Hassan (peace be upon him) hall within the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine."

She added that "the Global Imami Medical Organization is an international humanitarian organization that includes various specialties of doctors and health and medical staff, and works in several countries around the world, especially in emergencies and humanitarian crises such as wars, floods, and disasters that require urgent medical intervention," noting that "the organization has a significant presence in the holy city of Karbala during the Arbaeen pilgrimage of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him), where it annually contributes to providing medical services through specialized staff, medicines, and medical supplies."

She indicated that "the conference witnessed a speech delivered on behalf of the Senior Official of the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine; His Eminence Sayed Ahmad Al-Safi, which included a set of important recommendations that emphasized the uniqueness of medical work in the holy city of Karbala, particularly regarding the separation of men and women during medical examinations, isolating female patients from male patients, as well as stressing the importance of not complaining about delays in requesting ambulances or other services provided by the holy shrine."

Al-Tamimi emphasized that "the speech stressed the importance of providing a defibrillator in every medical unit, to be supervised by specialized doctors, in addition to the necessity of unifying the discourse and work between the Imamate organization and all the volunteer medical staff working in Karbala."

For his part, the representative of the World Imam Medical Organization/Iraq branch, Dr. Osama Abdul Hassan Kadhem, said, "The organization is registered with the United Nations as a seat for civil society institutions and has extensive activities around the world through about 32 branches distributed in several countries," noting that "the Iraq branch is one of these branches and has been continuing its work since 2008."

He explained that "since the organization began its work in Iraq, it has maintained a high-level coordination and cooperation relationship with the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine, especially in the field of establishing medical checkpoints during the Arbaeen pilgrimage, providing health services to the visitors, in addition to organizing medical workshops and seminars, and benefiting from the expertise and medical competencies of doctors from various specialties within the organization."
